I think that the past few weeks have seen probably my hardest ever training sessions. What with the focus race of my season (The Snowdonia marathon) being a matter of weeks away, the regime that Andy (Walling) has set for the pair of us has been relentless in its severity. With 70 mile weeks already in the bag and the prospect of 110 mile weeks a reality, the schedule has demanded our full attention. Not that I am complaining though! I think the commitment shown by the pair of us and of course Eddie over the weeks has been admirable (even though I say so myself) and I am surprised that even though I feel tired occasionally, I don't suffer the exhaustion that maybe one would expect following such a gruelling plan. This weekend, sees a trip to the Austrian / Italian Alps and whilst I am mortified to be leaving Neale behind to look after the little brown, I must admit that I am desperate to get to altitude and get some quality mileage in with my training partners. We are going on the back of the Trans Alps run, to join up with the Saab Salomon team managed by friend and occasional running partner Tim Lloyd. We are joined by Andy, Eddie and the legendary Anna Frost whom i have not seen for a few months, whilst she tours Europe and America on her annual quest for domination of the mountain running scene. It will be great to see her and I am really looking forward to the new challenges that the Alps will bring and of course the benefits of training at altitude. I will update my blog with piccies and information on my return but don't hold your breath because I've got to get the Llyn Vyrnwy half out of the way the day after returning home and then a week later I don the Welsh kit for the seventh time ( first time on the mountains) for an inter countries race up.....Wow...I just love to run......Bye for now.......
