I'm a Runner Not A Mountaineer!

I looked forward with trepidation to my weekend runs, safe in the knowledge that I had a week off from competing before the second round of the north Wales cross country league. Andy had mentioned that a few of the guys were getting together to do a little mountain running, and of course me, as ever said 'yes please'. Neale and I had a lazy morning in bed and travelled over to meet Andy at home before we travelled over to meet the others at LLanberis. We arrived to meet up with Tim Lloyd and Gwyndaf, and Tim, the ever eager Soloman team boss decided that we would run out over the 'Vivian Steps' at Dinorwic and traverse the various hairpins up to the top of the quarries. Well, talk about tough......We made good progress but alas Gwyndaf...fresh from an early morning start with his new born, decided that it was a little tough and called time half way into the run. I must admit that I really enjoyed it and running at about 2000' really seems to benefit. In all we covered about 10 miles and the ironic thing is, we were never further than 2 miles away from the start / finish point. It just go's to show how steep those mountains really are....bring on the next session.
