That's The Week That Was.....

I am very pleased with how this week has gone following our success at the first round of the cross country champs at Colwyn Bay. I've now had time to digest the new training regime that Andy had put together for me on the run up to London in April. The mileage though seems so high, but I am sure that it will be of benefit to me! I seem to have moved on again this week and I am starting to find confidence in myself that I don't think that I have ever had previously. I am sure it must be the little pep talks that Neale and Andy have been giving to me over the months and I think that the realisation that I may have a talent now seems to have begun to sink in.

We have also managed a few discussions over the week relating to race techniques, and there are several areas to work on that will gain me extra seconds for little or no effort. It's really strange because now that it has been explained to me I can see that these tips seem to make sense.

Monday saw me get a 9.5 miller in and an improvement of over a minute on my previous best time, on Tuesday I managed my favourite 8+ miller at Brenig / Alwen and Wednesday saw the usual two run day including the speed session at Menai with the lads. I was really glad of the rest day as an underlying cold manifested itself, that's not to say that I didn't do anything, Neale and I had a great walk around Llyn Crafnant near Trefriw, finished off with a lovely cake!

And today, well, my longest run ever ...for the first time I managed to cover almost 17 miles. It took me about two hours, but the idea was to get used to the distance and I must admit that, despite the wind, I enjoyed it very much.....
