Cardiff Silver Medal

Well, the trip to Cardiff for the Welsh half marathon championships was worth it. Whilst I came home in around the same time as Lake Vrynwy, I managed to secure the silver medal in the V35 category, something that I really didn't expect to do! The training over the past week has gone very well and despite this flippin' cold that I have had for a couple of weeks, I went into the race both focused and confident that a the race would be comfortable. I have been a little bit concerned that of course this half marathon was 'thrown' last minute into the race calendar and didn't really feature as part of my preferred race schedule. On that basis I really only have managed 1 longer run as I mentioned here a week or so ago so I did feel that maybe I could have gone a little quicker after the 8 mile marker. At 8 miles I did tire a little but this soon passed and I got to the finish without injury or niggle. Again, I am over the moon that it seems to have passed without pain and at the expense of repeating myself, it is so nice to run pain free and enjoy the experience. Ann Thomas did us all proud again with a fantastic showing coming home in what I believe is a PB at around 82 minutes. She never ceases to amaze me in all honesty, she is so strong! One last point, congratulations to Jenson Button and the Brawn formula 1 team on becoming world champions.......!
