Following my season which has been long and sometimes arduous, I had resigned myself to being out of contention for a Welsh vest to add to the other five that I have already had the honour of wearing. However, and to my complete 
and utter astonishment, Neale came out into the garden to tell me that we'd received an email from the Welsh Masters cross country team coordinator Ali Whitelaw. I had been invited to run for Wales in the inter-country international at Perry Barr in Birmingham next month. I have been fortunate to have been selected in the previous two years but I was somewhat surprised (yet ever hopeful) to have been selected this year following the injury. I must admit at being very low and down with my performances this year, despite both Neale and Andy telling me the contrary. It does take a little while to sink in and of course being selected demonstrates my ability. I am going to spend the next three weeks on the run up to the event focusing completely on my training and I am going to do everything to ensure that my selection is both vindicated and justified. The best thing about the whole episode is that I will be running alongside two other north Wales runners and friends Emma and Isobel. I am sure that we will have a great time.........
