As we approach Sunday and the Welsh Half Marathon Championships at Cardiff, I was a little concerned that I hadn't really done enough mileage this week on the run up to an important outing. Having said that, I have kept the distances reasonable and included a couple of quality sessions including Alwen and the 10 miller at Brenig. My weekly physio' session with Andy on W
ednesday evening, even had him performing just preventative manipulation, which in itself is a revelation considering the past pretty much 2 years of one injury or another....We were joking that in a week or two it will be a full 12 months since Andy and I were introduced and the road back to fitness began. I can't even begin to remember how many treatments I must have had but it must be well in excess of 50! Knowing what I do now, I feel that the knowledge that I have gained over the past twelve months, is similar to that that
the life long athletes would have accumulated since starting as teenagers. Me, I have to learn the hard way, over train, injury, race weekly injury, don't stretch injury and so on and so forth. That said, whilst it ha been very hard, it has also been of significant benefit to me, allowing me to meet Andy and a whole new circle of friends. As for Sunday, well, if I have a run as good as Vrynwy, I will be over the moon but an improvement of a minute or so would be a real bonus............I'll let you know how I go!
