Injuries and Incidents

Well, today I seemed to have got the bottom of the injury that has blighted my training for the past couple of weeks since finishing 2nd on the Peir to Pier race. I've spent most days in the meantime using the cross trainer in the gym in a very vain attempt to maintain my fitness levels. Neale and I went for a short run early in the week, but despite maintaining what can only be described as a mediocre pace, my hip still played up and I paid for it over the following few days.

Then, as a matter of interest, I removed my orthotic insole, which has been in place for 6 months. The transformation, was both instantaneous and amazing. I immediately felt more balanced and walked with almost no pulling in my side. To test the theory, Neale and I decided that a run around the Great Orme would give me a good indication as to the progress and I was not dissapointed. I felt great and the earlier pain was slight.

I can only assume that the orthotic was the cause of the niggle. This weekend see's a return to cross country with the final outing in the Majestic league. Russell Godwin asked if I would represent Colwyn Bay again as we have a very good chance of securing the ladies veteran section of the series.

If all goes according to plan, I will make my first attempt at the Nick Beer memorial on Sunday. I only hope that I can. Fingers crossed! For the past 3 years I have been injured and not been able to compete so I am hoping that this wont be the case this year.
