Picked up Leanne at about 11-30 to make the 100 mile trip down to round three of the North Staff's Cross Country league. When we arrived it was a little disappointing to see that we had barely scraped a team together for the women's event with only Vicky, Leanne and I competing from Colwyn Bay. The men faired a little better with the Watson twins, Ian 'Smiler' Dave, and Russell all turning out.
Despite Russell's description, the course was anything but boring with several rises but mainly open fields with several quite soggy stream beds to cross. It was quite windy and for the first time this season I began to feel quite cold. I had a good race and made good progress throughout the 5km coming in 6th. Vicky also finished well in about 50th followed closely by Leanne.
Had a great night last night at the Conwy sports awards, despite not being chosen for the 'Most Improved Sportswoman' . We took along Lee and Suzzanne and enjoyed good food and company. The speaker Steve Parry was simply brilliant, he was witty, funny and good to listen to. We all had a great laugh and Lee and Suz drank for Wales! Both were a little lets say...anebriated....but what the hell..the had a baby sitter for the vermin so why
not enjoy it!!!!!

Conwy obviously had spent a great deal of time and effort to put on what can only be described as an outstanding event. One of the highlights of the evening though was the speech at the end by the leader of Conwy Council Goronwy Edwards who had quite obviously had a few too many sherbet's. Talk about waffling on. He must have stuttered, and mixed up his lines a hundred times and repeated himself constantly....anyway it was a laugh even if he should have been shot much earlier.
This weekend See's my first trip over the sea to Belfast to get my third Welsh vest for the Masters Cross Country. I wondered why Neale was so eager to got but then I find out that the penultimate round of the WRC is also on at Stormont. I wonder what he'll be doing immediately after the end of the cross country!
