Its been a great week or so since the last outing at Lilleshall not having to worry about a race last weekend. I really think that I needed to take a couple of weeks clear from racing to build up my energy levels again before the Abergele 5 mile on this Sunday. It forms part of the North Wales Championships so no doubt we will see a cracking entry for the event, I know for a fact that all of my main rivals for North Wales glory, including Emma, Isobel Marilyn and many others will be out seeking a win.
I have been hatching a new strategy for the race which I hope will work depending on whether or not I can hit it off this late in the season. The one thing in my favour though is the inclines on the event which begin almost immediately and I hope that my training on the hills will benefit me. I've developed a little niggle in my knee over the past week and I hope it's just down to my old trainers and nothing more serious.
I am pleased to say that I received my letter through the post this weekend to invite me to run for Wales in the masters cross country event at Belfast. I am so pleased and I am sure to enjoy it. I'm hoping that I'll deliver what they no doubt expect of me. I'm not yet sure who else has been asked but I know it will be a good laugh.
So, here we are...late in the season and the Abergele 5 looming...
