1st Welsh Lady

I don't know whether to jump for joy, laugh, cry or shout out...I made the trip to Cardiff and managed to secure 1st Welsh lady and another 50 seconds off my personal best for 10km! For the past two weeks since I got the 'phone call from Jacqui Brace at Welsh athletics, Ive been asking myself whether or not I was good enough to run for my country, an honour that I would never have believed that I could have achieved. Having said that I have put the mileage in over the past few months and raced regularly in an attempt to build up my race fitness. We got down to Cardiff late on Friday night and spent Saturday relaxing til meeting all my team mates at the hotel. I was a little apprehensive but needn't have been because everyone was so friendly, making me feel at ease and relaxing. I had an awful night's sleep and when the alarm went off I couldn't believe it!

I got to the start and when the gun went off , I immediately got dropped by Anne (Trotts) and Leanne (Cardiff AAC) but that's nothing unusual as I take a while to find my pace. Surprisingly it was very warm and I managed to catch both within 2km. Whilst the course was flat the sun was very hot and I was a little tired at about 3-6km. However, I persevered. Neale kept appearing with his camera all around the course at 1, 4, 9 and 10km. How on earth he managed to get to all of those places Ill never know, but I was pleased to see him. I got to the finishing straight and I couldn't believe it when I saw 37 Min's on the clock with 200Mt's to go. All I could hear was Neale's voice screaming at me and I crossed the line in 37Min's 23secs....I could not believe it.

I'm over the moon, and the phone calls and texts haven't stopped all evening. And to cap it all, Ive been picked to run again for Wales next month....superstar or what?
