Humdrum Days

I've just had sight of the training regime that Andy has put together for me in the run up to the Commonwealth's and noticed that the day after he gave it to me I was due to run a 25 miler! Now the run itself I don't find at all daunting...the thought of having to run it alone is much more depressing! That said, when I set out this morning, the weather was glorious and the sun shining. I packed my bum bag with the obligatory Zipvits and peanut butter and jam squares and prepared for the boredom... The run was fine and I arrived at Abergwyngryn to be met by Neale and the little brown dog, sat waiting attentively for my arrival. The boredom didn't really set in, for some strange reason I spent the 3 hours or so if the run concentrating. If you were to ask me on what I couldn't tell you but I know that my mind was fully occupied for the duration. I am more than happy with my training and the direction in which I am going at the moment, I got two runs in over the past week on the course that the ultra is being held on. On my second run, I was joined by Neale and Welsh mountain team manager Arwel Lewis. After the run, Neale told me that it would take a special person to run that course and not just once but five whole laps! That said I am really looking forward to it and now that my regime is in place and I am focused, I am as keen as ever to do the race. This week see;s me training on the course once again with Arwel and we will be joined this week by fellow Welsh team member and friend Andrea Roberts. I am really looking forward to it and we will have a great time I am sure. Andrea has had a fantastic season this year and will really be a force to be reckoned with on the day of the race.......Thats's it for now folks........Happy Running.
