I've had a great week this week, following on from the Vrynwy half. I've managed a pretty full training programme with several good quality recovery runs and sessions. Neale and I discussed whether or not it may be a good idea to do the half marathon or 10km at the Mentor Mon festival on Angelsey but when this was put to Andy, he dismissed it almost immediately saying that it would not be. We finally put the entry in for the Cardiff half on Wednesday evening and my focus is completely on this race. In the meantime however, we have the first round of the North Wales Cross Country League at Colwyn Bay and this together with the Flintshire 10km all occur before the half. It will be quite interesting to see what Andy's strategy is, as I haven't mentioned these races to him as yet. It may well be that he tells me to knock the 10km into touch which will be a shame but my focus must be on the half and I am eager to improve my time significantly over Vrynwy. It's quite funny, Andy really has improved my discipline and I do listen to him and do as I'm told. He's given me a nick name 'Tammy Ddrwg' which is Welsh for bad Tammy as I did tend to do my own think and twist what I have been told to do to incorporate ' a little extra'.....
As I sit and type this, I am waiting to meet up with Jo Mc D who is training for one of the hardest marathons in the UK the Snowdonia which is held next month. She had asked on facebook for someone to accompany her on one of her long runs, so me being ever the diligent runner, I volunteered. We are meeting for a 2 - 2 1/2 hour jaunt, and have decided to take in the lakes at Brenig and Alwyn so this should be great. I wouldn't mind, but I ran around the latter yesterday!.................Am I nuts?
