Cross Country At Colwyn Bay.

With the arrival of September, we also see the first event in the North Wales Cross Country league at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay. As per last year, the afternoon was sunny and the temperature in the early 20's, not what you would expect for a cross country race where the norm is cold, wet and miserable. This year saw the club put on another great event and the turn out from the various clubs was great. Competitors had travelled from Staffordshire and indeed nearly every club in North Wales. My team mates this year for Colwyn Bay were, Izzy, Helen, and Vicky to name but a few and the men's team was also well supported with not less than 11 guys turning out. As ever the event was hard, and the pace high, and Izzy continued her run of form with 1st place. I was over the moon with coming in 30 secs later in 6Th as I was closer to Marilyn (Tattenall) than I had been all season. For the first time this season I was also catching as opposed to being caught. My legs were absolutely perfect and I feel that I am now pretty much sorted on the race side. Now it will take a few more races to recover my lost form. We enter a busy period now though, with various Borders League, Cross Country and road events coming on a weekly basis.

I was also pleased to receive a letter this week from Welsh athletics, inviting me along to the endurance athlete training day at Rhayader in Mid Wales. I am looking forward to this as it gives me the opportunity to see some of my Welsh team mates and also the chance to speak with the various coaches. I am sure that this will be beneficial to all who attend. Neale is also going to come along with Ritchie and spend the day walking and we've decided to book into a hotel the night before , to make a weekend of it.
