I can't believe that it's a year since I last ran the Orme race in LLandudno and that I find myself half way through the 2008 season already. In what can only be described as probably the toughest 5km race in the calendar I lined up with Sarah and Isobel at the start and knew that we would have a tough race ahead. I remained completely calm, which is unlike me as I do tend to get so nervous before a race. I had decided that I was going to take it easy and see how my injury held up. I have had such a good week that I hoped that I wouldn't jeopardise it with a hilly jaunt like this one. Isolbel and Sarah sped off as per usual and watched them as they disappeared into the distance. I maintained a steady pace until the steep climb started and slowly I managed to claw Isobel back in and finished about 25 secs. behind her. I was so pleased I couldn't contain my joy and the fact that my injury really didn't give me any cause for concern whatsoever. Whilst I couldn't replicate my win of last year, I am very, very pleased that I was able to hold my own in such a good field. Now I'm looking forward to Race The Train on Wednesday at which point I'll decide whether or not to do the Great Welsh run the following Sunday....
