Happy 2008..Here We Go Again

I'm sure everyone will agree with me when I say that 2007 seemed to come and go in the blink of an eye. No sooner did the first race (Chirk) arrive, that the last (Helena Tipping) had gone. Anyway, lets get on with it and I'd like to say happy new year to you and yours for 2008. I was quite surprised with the amount of people who have taken the trouble to read my blog during 2007 and I'll try my best to make it a little more interesting during the new year.

I would say that this year will be quite crucial as I act upon the copious amounts of advise that I have received from all of the new friends that I made in 2007. Its only been a couple of hours into the new year and I have already been discussing the training programmes with Neale and Jaqui. Its only a matter of three weeks away to my first competitive half marathon at Helsby, which I am looking forward to very much. I did my first 13 miler in training last Monday and was very pleased with a sub-1-30 time. I felt quite strong and despite worrying about stamina, I managed a short sprint at the end. I suppose that I will be very happy with a sub 1-25 time at Helsby but another couple of minutes under that would be great.

Once we have Helsby out of the way, I am going to sit down and make the effort to select the races I want to do this year. Obviously, my programme will contain significantly fewer races than in 2007 but I want to make every one count.

So really that's it, my first blog entry for 2008...lets hope that we all enjoy a good competitive year .......injury free!
