the dreaded flu to see the year out you find me typing my blog from the comfort of my bed! It's not just me though, as Neale has also succumbed to the dreaded lurgy and we are both trying to rid ourselves of the virus without delay. I was wondering what to write because so many things have happened over the last twelve months and my running has been very varied. I have made the decision that I most definitely will be concentrating on the mountains solely with almost immediate effect and have been inspired by my close friend Anna Frost (winner of the San Francisco 50 miler this month) to maybe make an attempt on the trans-rockies event in August. Having spoken at length with my coach Andy and some of my other mentor's we have come to the conclusion that this will indeed be the way forward for me in 2011. The beauty of the trans-rockies, will be the fact that it will be held whilst I am on holiday from university, affording me the opportunity to commit fully to a training programme that will be beneficial to me. Furthermore, I need a focus prior to the Commonwealth mountain running championships, to be held in Wales in September where I am hoping to represent my country again. One of my running partner's, Arwel in the process of organising the route for the event so it will be very interesting to see what he comes up with. The thought of ultra-runs really appeals to me and I feel more than confident that stepping up to longer distances is the way forward for me. I just hope that the injuries will be a little less prevalent in 2011 and look forward to the new year with excitement. All that remains, is for me to wish you all the best for 2011 and happy running!
