Having to travel at 100 mph to make the start of the race really doesn't help my mindset, but entering 2 days before doesn't either. We had couple of choices for today really, stay in bed until 11pm and watch the London marathon, or travel the 170 mile round trip for 40ish minutes of competition and get another race into my legs.
Well, as you do I opted for the race option and pressed the record button on the sky+ box so I could watch London in its entirety when I got home. I actually entered the Bolton 10k online and decided that it was easier to do this than queue at race HQ. I was quite surprised at the size of the entry which saw nearly 700 enter last year. The course was very hilly, not at all conducive to PBs and in all honesty I was quite glad because as with last week's race I wanted to get a few more race miles under my belt. I enjoyed the race and I was chuffed at winning the V35 which under the circumstances could only help my long term race fitness.
Just some congratulations now......to Dave Nolan, Kevin, Jack, Martin, Tom and Richard...well done for your finishes in London and it was also great to see Ann Thomas my Welsh team mate also come home well under three hours again....As for me, well Neale put an entry in for me for 2009...will I do it? I dunno...ask me in 6 months!
